Khasab, Oman

This is Khasab, a sleepy town at the top of the Musandam peninsular. There is absolutely nothing here, except a fort. This is it.

Muscat, Oman

As you enter the Sultan Qaboos port in Muscat, there is a giant white incense burner up on the hill at the end of the Mutrah Corniche. And why not?

We travelled to a lovely white beach at Al Qurum, about 3 miles from the city centre. Palm trees lined the white beach and the water was hot enough to have a bath in.

Hold on - what's this?

Outside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, one of the great architectural wonders of the Arabian peninsular. They wouldn't let me in.

At 123 metres, this was the world's tallest flagpole when it was built in 2010. It is situated on the Marina Mall, opposite the Corniche in Abu Dhabi. It has since been surpassed by flags in Jordan, Turkmenistan and North Korea.

Annette thought it was amusing to try and get me fired in the Heritage Village.

Tom Cruise did this in one of the Mission Impossible films. This is up on the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
